Commercial Aviation Management (CAM)

Redefining Aviation Education in Canada for the Next Generation of Leaders.

Designed for students who aspire not just to work in aviation — but to lead it.

Business. Aviation. Leadership.

Canada’s Leading Aviation Business Degree

Western University’s DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies is home to the Commercial Aviation Management (CAM) program — Canada’s leading aviation business degree. Established in 1999, CAM was built on a bold idea: the future of aviation belongs to those who understand both flight and business.

For more than 25 years, CAM has been preparing graduates to lead across Canada’s aviation industry and beyond.

Students earn a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies (BMOS) degree while completing specialized aviation coursework, with the option to pursue professional flight training through MFC Training at London International Airport (YXU). The result is a university education that combines academic rigour with real-world aviation experience.

Built for the Modern Aviation Industry

The aviation industry is evolving rapidly — more global, more complex, and more technology-driven than ever before. Today’s leaders must understand flight operations, business strategy, safety systems, regulatory frameworks, and innovation. CAM was designed for that reality.

Aviation demands systems thinking, strategic leadership, and professional excellence.

Through a rigorous management education grounded in leadership development, students build the analytical and strategic capabilities required across airlines, airports, aerospace organizations, and regulatory bodies. Supported by strong industry partnerships and hands-on engagement opportunities, CAM students gain meaningful exposure to the aviation environment throughout their degree.

Graduates are prepared to contribute immediately — and to lead over the long term. Many launch directly into aviation careers, while others pursue advanced studies such as MBA or law programs to broaden their impact.

This is where ambition meets opportunity.

CAM equips students with the foundation to succeed — wherever their aviation journey leads.

Connected. Engaged. Positioned for Success.

CAM’s vibrant student community is a defining strength of the program. Student-led organizations such as Western CAM Council and Western Aviatrix provide leadership development, mentorship, networking, and professional engagement beyond the classroom.

Through partnerships with Jazz Aviation, Porter Airlines, WestJet, Air Transat, MFC Training, ALPA Canada, PAL Airlines, and other leading organizations, students gain access to mentorship, internships, networking events, and real-world aviation experiences. An extensive alumni network across airlines, airports, regulatory agencies, and aerospace organizations worldwide further strengthens these pathways.

From the classroom to the flight deck — and beyond — CAM students are positioned to shape the future of aviation.
